Beija Babe Backstage: Abbie Miranda, Designer and Co-Founder of Beija London.

Beija Babe Backstage: Abbie Miranda, Designer and Co-Founder of Beija London.

With a background in footwear design and five years working as a designer for the family lingerie manufacturing business, it was a very natural move for Abbie to create her own collection. Abbie and sister Mazie launched the brand Beija Flor in January 2016.

Abbie lives in East London with her Brazilian husband Felipe, baby Marcel and staffy Bow. They live a very local life, making the most of their surrounding parks and apparently trying to tire Marcel out so he goes to sleep. During a whirlwind afternoon at Abbie's, we got the scoop on this BF babe backstage.

Home is….?

Bow in east London. Born and bred in west London, but I’ve lived east since university at Cordwainers in Old Street.

Most unforgettable lingerie moment good or bad?

Taking my baby on a research trip to Paris where he had a terrible leak onto the dove grey velvet couch. It was in my favourite Lingerie Department and was absolutely horrendous. I think we got away with it,diving and scooping but it still makes me hot with shame.

Earliest London memory?

Under the T-Rex at The Natural History museum.

Most Romantic thing someone’s done for you?

Married me.

Best London meal?

A crab at J-Sheeky’s

Building you'd most like to be locked in overnight?

Selfridges, as long as I got to take all the goodies home with me!

Favourite London discoveries?

The Dalston Mill, THE best fabric seller and haberdashery in London.

Tell us about your neighbourhood?

Where we live is really wonderful. It’s very green with Victoria Park and the Canals all being close. We feel very lucky to live there, going for a walk beside the canal with all the barges and wildlife, then popping up on Kingsland Road is surreal but great. And it makes me feel less guilty about raising babies in central London.

Who do you call when you want to have fun?

My friends. Women and wine, the classic mix.

Best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Be financially independent so that you can fall in love freely.

If you could work with anyone who would it be?

At the moment it’s Christopher Raeburn.

Last album you downloaded?

The Trevor Nelson Collection……

What is your favourite London shop?

At the moment you are...?

Thinking about holidays, doing quality check on our latest delivery and cutting a pattern for a tricksy swimwear range.

What's the biggest risk you've taken?

Launching an online brand.

What are you most proud of?

My baby Marcel, my relationships and Beija Flor.

Favourite piece in the BF collection?

Do it anyway Y bra and thong. It's the perfect mix of luxury and wearability.
